[EN] What is Piel de Mariposa? Piel de Mariposa charity shops are spaces for the sale of new and semi-new products donated by individuals and businesses who believe in solidarity. Inspired by the Anglo-Saxon model of charity shops, they are the main economic pillar of the NGO Debra - Piel de Mariposa.
In London, it is very common to see many charity shops (second-hand shops where all proceeds go to an association) in all neighborhoods. Currently, I buy a lot of my clothes in these types of stores since they are very normalized in England. You can find people of all ages, with different resources, and it is quite common for them to shop in these charity shops. There are many different associations with this type of store, and because they are so popular here, they all have a very similar image and are designed in a way that does not make it seem like you are buying second-hand or at a flea market.
After researching TFGs related to interior design projects, this shop came to my mind because it¿s located in the neighborhood where I live, and whenever I walk by, I see it. However, it never caught my attention before, and I didn't quite understand what it was since it is not as common in Spain to shop in these kinds of places. I started looking at the shop online and seeing photos, and it seemed to me that the space is not well-utilized, even though it is quite large. It doesn't attract attention, and the interior doesn't invite people to enter, as everything seems to be piled up and disorganized. Clothes can be seen mixed with toys, books scattered throughout the store, and handmade signs identifying the clothing.
I thought it would be a good idea to redesign the shop because I believe it is important and a great opportunity to give more visibility to these types of businesses. My idea would be to redesign the entire organization and interior design, consistently maintaining an image that aligns with them throughout the project, using the same colors, and emphasizing the butterfly image, which ultimately represents the shop and the organization.
