Since the very foundation of the city, multiple bridges were built across that waterway, the river has been channelled and its banks decorated ever since. On many occasions floods and natural disasters destroyed those elements which have been rebuilt, transformed and adjusted to new circumstances. This memoir is an account on the history of those architectural elements based on written documents and graphic representations from different historical periods. The study includes a detailed analysis of each element: bridges, walls, parapets and ornament. A set of indexed files with geometrical and metrological information, descriptions of the formal aspect, and location of the different elements was developed for the subsequent drafting of a catalogue. Data were uploaded to computer graphics that simulate the aspect of the elements through different periods of their history.
