dc.description.abstract The present paper discusses the efficiency of a new steel hysteretic device, abbreviated as ¿J-damper¿, proposed for an intermediate seismic isolation system of spatial structures. In order to show the effectiveness, a series of dynamic response analyses of single layer reticular domes are performed considering wave passage effects. From the energy consumption concept, it is shown that the intermediate seismic isolation system much suppresses the seismic responses of the dome and the new device can exert their excellent performance irrespective of a spatial variation of earthquake input motions. en_EN
