Summary Francisco Javier Tous Olagorta: The teaching of sculpture in the Visual Arts, history and analysis of the curriculum and existing programs at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. 467 pp. il. This work started in the first chapter with a short approach to the concept of sculpture, technical processes and materials in the teaching of the academic Arts in Europe and Mexico; below the second chapter a comprehensive review and analysis of the evolution in the history of the methods and plans of studies, as well as the specific programs that were implemented, both in the academic history of 19th century as they were in the 20th century, in the third chapter is reached which today is taught as a subject programs in relation to other six schools and Mexican universities that offer Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts and the learning of this artistic, within the national school of plastic arts (ENAP) discipline, belonging to the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico (UNAM). The fourth and final chapter is as a comparative plan of study and programs in the three universities of Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. Research starts from the foundation of the Antigua Academia de San Carlos in 1781, as first Royal Academy of fine arts of Hispanic origin in the Americas, covering its transformation in time after independence, until its incorporation in the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), becoming from 1931 in the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas (ENAP). The ENAP undoubtedly with their various workshops, spaces for working and learning methodology has become University vocation, with its history, dedication and the social commitment that has distinguished within the education system in the country, a required reference for higher education of the Arts in all Mexico and in Latin America.
