Information about funding sources or sponsorship that supported the collection of the data: The authors gratefully acknowledge the Universitat Politècnica de València for providing the funds for N.K. Sinisterra-Solís research contract through Subprogram 1 (PAID-01-18) and the Colombian Government through COLCIENCIAS. General description: The collated data correspond to the parameters to estimate the resources consumption and the emissions to the environment from the main farming activities (resources consumption and emissions from infrastructure building and management, fertiliser and pesticide production, on-field fertiliser and pesticide emissions, fuel consumption from machinery use, and irrigation), together with the environmental impacts of the unit processes (e.g. electricity mix, production of agricultural inputs) required to assess the environmental impacts from a panel of reference holdings at the main NUTS 2 in Spain. These data were compiled in a set of excel sheets and subsequently operated (tidying, transforming, visualisation and modelling operations) by developing a set of scripts using R programming language and the RStudio interface. Keywords: Agricultural LCA, Subnational LCI -------------------------- SHARING/ACCESS INFORMATION -------------------------- Open Access to data: Open Licenses/restrictions placed on the data, or limitations of reuse: Open data commons ODC-By license Citation for and links to publications that cite or use the data: Dataset to assess the environmental impacts of main agricultural products in Spain at a regional level. Data in Brief. [in process] Links/relationships to previous or related data sets: related datasets are detailed in the article “Dataset to assess the environmental impacts of primary agricultural products in Spain at a regional level. Data in Brief. [in process]” Links to other publicly accessible locations of the data: links are detailed in the article “Dataset to assess the environmental impacts of primary agricultural products in Spain at a regional level. Data in Brief. [in process]” -------------------- DATA & FILE OVERVIEW -------------------- File list: the compressed file “R_project_to_Spanish_AG_LCA” contains the folder “R_project”. The “R_project” folder includes two folders (“.Rproj.user” and “InputData”), nine scripts “SR0_library.R”, “SR1_base_script.R”, “SR2_infrastructure.R”, “SR3_fertiliser_consumption.R”, “SR4_pesticide_consumption.R”, “SR5_on_field_emissions.R”, “SR6_machinery_use.R”, “SR7_irrigation.R” and “SR8_impacts_agg.R”), and the setup R file “R_object”. The scripts develop the R code to estimate the environmental impacts of the reference holdings of the Spanish crops at NUTS 2 level.“.Rproj.user” folder includes the background files of R studio software. “InputData” folder contains 21 excel files where the input data collected to develop the assessment of the environmental impacts are gathered. Relationship between files: “R_object” setup file allows to execute the script files, whereas the script files call the excel files to operate in the R Studio interface. Type of version of the dataset: This dataset contains both raw and processed data. Total size: 42.8 MB -------------------------- METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION -------------------------- From ECREA reports, a reference dataset was created (Dbi1_ECREA) where the reference holdings studied were defined. Additional information, as specific as possible, was gathered to develop the life cycle inventory data to assess the environmental impacts of the reference holdings. Most of the collated data was compiled in excel files; only some parameters to estimate the energy consumption for irrigation were included directly in the R code. In the R code, functions to filter, select, join, summarise, simulate, etc., were applied to obtain, from the input data, the inventory data, and environmental impact scores of the reference holdings. Software- or Instrument-specific information needed to interpret the data, including software and hardware version numbers: R version 4.1.4 and R Studio version 2022.2.3.492. -------------------------- DATA-SPECIFIC INFORMATION Information about the variables and other value aspects are shown in the respective excel and script files, as well as in the article associate to this dataset. -------------------------- Number of objects: 21 excel files and 9 scripts Missing data codes: empty cell or “NA” Observation: for the right code execution, file names and variable names should be kept as stated in the data files and R scripts. Also, the file location and folder structure should not be changed. Nevertheless, to avoid copyright issues, original values are replaced by 1 (non-real value). Therefore, to replicate the real environmental impacts estimation, those values should be replaced by the real ones, by accessing the databases mentioned above.
