Abstract One of the consequences of the interaction of the ionizing radiations on the cells, is the induction chromosomal alterations. This relation of causality has done that the chromosomal alterations are considered to be a good indicator of exhibition to the above mentioned agents. One of these scoreboards indicators to quantify the exhibition of the populations to the radiations ionizantes are the alterations of structural type (dicentrics ans translocations). Biological Dosimetry is the technology chosen to take to end the study of the chromosomal alterations, is a technology that allows the judging determination of the degree of exhibition, to the ionizing radiation, across the valuation of the biological caused effects. These effects are the cytogenetic alterations induced in the lymphocytes of peripheral blood. The technology allows to value, therefore, the absorbed dose got for an individual or a group of individuals from a simple blood extraction and its later analysis. Propolis, is a product of extraordinary interest, as much in the field of medicine as the pharmaceutical industry. It is attributed with numerous Therefore, the aim of this thesis is the evaluation of propolis. an ehanolic extract of propolis (EEP) to different doses of radiation and different concentrations of the extract, using the technology of biological dosimetry. We use calibration curves of dose - effect to evaluate the effect. The obtained results show a protection of 46 %, that is to say, we conclude that the EEP is a radioprotector substance. properties: it is an anti-flammatory agent, an immunostimulant, a hepatoprotector, a carcinostatic, it has anti- microbial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, antiprotozoan properties, it is an anesthetic and a tissue regenerator. Of between(among) many(many people) properties of the EEP (ethanolic extract of propolis) are the antioxidant being and "scavenger" opposite to the free radical ones. The resultant products of the oxidation or of the free radical ones can cause, fragmentation of the ADN, chromosomal alterations, degradation of the acid hyaluronic, lipid peroxidation, decrease of the content of proteins with groups sulphydril, and also alter the immune system. The ionizing radiation induces injuries in the DNA, directly and indirectly, producing products of the radiolisis of the water, specially radical free.
