PENELOPE’S TAPESTRY: RESIDENTIAL TRANSFORMATIONS ON WEAVES WITHOUT PATRIMONIAL VALUE

The large cities in their perception like geographies, like places in history and in people's memory, they can avoid the passage of time reaching the eternity. But in his most physical reality, identified for the elements that they build it, they remain subject to a life cycle that  chains the moment of his birth with that of his decadence. Nothing in this life has an unlimited duration. The eternal cities only live in the romantic metaphors, and for the remainder, the passage of time causes losses in their capacities. .
With all, the reality that is always obstinate, insist on showing us as we are not aware of this caducity completely. This way, we kept on contemplating the transformations like exceptional situations, out of it foreseeable and therefore exempt of the orientation of his changes. Nevertheless, transformations have coexisted with the cities from their own creation. Changes not only become evident in the spaces, that before empty are colonized later, to lodge new growths. The built weaves also contribute rations of growths through changes experienced on their own structures.
The renewal of the urban weaves, that though perfectly studied from the doctrine in some of their most known formulas as the Interior Reform, it has not been it so much in the contemporary city, neither in those declarations less organized but very intense that so much they had prominence in the XIXth century. Neither has been it the existent relation between the operations of transformation and the growths for new extension that there constitute the basic alternatives of the urban growth .
This investigation tries to demonstrate as the processes of urban renewal that it is foreseeable should be discussed in a next future in the city, they will come from different magnitude and nature than acquaintances historically, for proper reasons and of the context they will take place in. Taking the case from Valencia as model, we analyzed like the simultaneous construction of an ample percentage of the fabrics of our city during the decade of sixties and seventies they will give reason, one time the stadium of service life of the edifications was passed, to situations of obsolescence that they will open a new opportunity for an urbanism that counts also with the growths for transformation. 
Investigation discusses from an urban perspective and engaged with the future intervention, the role that will play in the next years the ruin and the obsolescence buildings happened of simultaneous form. The studies the formation of the city doing several readings in those who fit constructive analyses, review of the planning, evolution of the cartography and evaluation of the historical context in the one that has developed. With support in the urban transformations produced in Valence in the two last few centuries, a reasoned foresight is offered of how and where the opportunities of intervention for transformation in the next future will take place
Weaves with advanced age and similar deficit, of residential nature and with scarce patrimonial value, they form the tapestry that the mythic Penélope has to undo to revert to knit, giving so continuity to a process of renewal in which the obsolescence of the buildings is interiorized like new opportunity for the growth of the city.
