Means of agricultural and environmental policies for the sake of sustainability. The problem of water in the region of Murcia. The main aim of this thesis is to check that, although there are multifold interactions among water, agricultural, environmental and field policies, there are common factors or elements that affect efficiency in their establishment and so the impact on the objective of water saving. Specifically, socio-demographic factors that influence on the attitude towards the acceptance of the programmes and the proper attitude towards water saving. Due to this, the evolution in the concept of sustainability and its involvement in different policies, concretely in agriculture matters, as well as the realization when using economic and regulation instruments are discussed. Decisive factors in the success or failure of measurements and variables that determine the ongoing structure of agricultural and environmental programmes with a special echo in the fight against desertification and drought are analyzed. Within the proper policies and instruments regarding water, measurements against the impact of drought are especially relevant in the East of Spain. The study of the devices to employ may show the relevance of the demand management measures and of setting up an appropriate value of the resource. The main fields that compete for water are agriculture and domestic consume, but there is a clear priority in the supply of the resource when it is scarce. For that reason, it turns out to be interesting to study in depth the factors that are involved in the use of this resource in the houses and check their conservation behaviour. Author: M.
