RESUMEN DE LA TESIS TÍTULO: Valoración de la Calidad de la Energía Eléctrica Respecto a Huecos de Tensión. Índices y Niveles de Calidad Autor: Edwin García Quintero Director: Dr. Vicente Fuster Roig RESUMEN EN INGLÉS The present thesis is devoted to the study of voltage sags and their impact on the assessment of electrical power quality. This study comprises the review and application of the existing methodologies in the literature for the classification of voltage sags. Based on these results and on the problems found when classifying some types of voltage sags, the research work starts by carrying out an analysis of the causes that give rise to those types of particular sags that proved to be difficult to classify by means of existing methodologies, such as the phasor classification. This work approach a new way for assessing voltage sags according to their shape was proposed. This new assessment method assigns a number to every three-phase sag shape, thus eliminating the inaccuracies inherent to the phasor classification. Taking this new assessment method as a starting point, this thesis suggests some site and system indexes for voltage sags. These take into account the fact that three-phase sags do not get down equally in every phase and, consequently, that the shape of each sag has a different influence on the devices sensitive to them. This is achieved by weighting each sag shape differently when assessing the index. After having obtained the indexes, and together with some others found in the literature, they are applied to the Spanish and Colombian electricity systems with the aim of: on the one hand, obtaining an order of the value they can reach; on the other hand, contrasting them with regard to the values obtained and to the ease of implementation; and finally, using them to homogenise electricity systems. Another important aspect that has been dealt with in this thesis is connected with the levels of electrical quality according to voltage sags. In this sense is proposed for the assessment of the aforementioned levels in the Colombian electrical system, taking into account the characteristics of the system, the interested parties (user, distribution company, and regulatory body), and the historical evolution of electrical power quality in Colombia. Finally, this thesis contains some conclusions that bring together all the experience acquired, and provide a set of innovative and promising ideas related to voltage sags, broadening the existing views of this phenomenon and reconsidering some applications previously raised in the literature. Furthermore, the thesis outlines future research lines.
