The present work deals with the representation of the plastic artist within the framework biographic genre (biopic). An evaluation developed from two counter points of view. First of all, building the formal scaffolding allowing to talk about the biographic genre as a defined discursive modality, the existence of a subgenre biographic of the artist has been confirmed. Secondly, tracing the presence of the artist as a main biographic character since the biopic origins until nowadays, normative changes redefining the subgenre along its historical ongoing had also been studied. If the first point of view allows to give account of the textual similarities presented in the subgenre, the second allows to highlight the implication of genre and subgenre with the cultural context in which they are inscribed.
