Phd Paper Summary The current phd paper addresses the value of using e-learning techniques over traditional university teaching methods, and analyses the measure in which its use allows the generation of a series of advantages, creates added value and improves performance in the role of university teachers. Bearing this in mind, this research paper is structured in two parts. In the first part, which has a theoretical approach, the main contributions on e-learning techniques to the study both, from a conceptual, as well as from an operative point of view, are reviewed. Main precedent variables found which promote the use of these techniques, such as teachers technical trainning on Communication and Information Techniques (CITs), teacher’s capacity to create contents and university policies specific to the use of CITs are addressed. University teacher’s performance is additionaly taken into account. Later on the research, a self-explanatory theoretical model on the relations between the above mentioned precedent variables and the use of e-learning techniques, as well as on, e-learning techniques and theacher’s performance, is presented. As a result of the theoretical relations presented in the model, a set of hypotheses are contrasted in the second part of the study. These hypotheses have been developed though a measuring tool in the form of an electronic questionaire. This electronic questionaire was sent to teachers of all seven existing presential universities in the Valencian Community, with a result of 763 valid answers collected. The statistics shown in this paper have been ellaborated thanks to the information obtained, and have been used to confirm the raised theoretical hypotheses. In order to proceed with the analysis, structural models have been ellaborated for each individual hyphotesis. The author of this research has analysed the results obtained and adjusted the different models accordingly by using EQS 6.1. software.
