This doctoral thesis is presented as a contribution related to Valencian Art history research activities. With a deep analysis and study of the documentation filed at city archives the objective is to fill a historical gap about painters and artisans from XIII to XV centuries (1238-1450) at Valencia. For this research several publications containing documentation have been gathered. From all this information a thorough investigation was necessary including the search at various city archives like the ones from Valencia, Castellón, Barcelona and other cities. This task has contributed to find unpublished documentation, that with the rest of published documentation, like the documentation included on the doctoral tesis of professor Lluïsa Tolosa Robledo (2003), have formed a large documentary corpus. Starting from the documentation pool recollected as a base, all documentation was organized and classified by last and first names of the artisan. This has developed a more recent discourse that was present from the last publications of José Sanchis Sivera (1930), detailing the artistic research at the comments and also including several aspects, like comments on the social life and environment of all the painters and artisans, both known and unknown. And last, as a result of the research work, a catalogue (supported in a database) of the artistic scene of the medieval Valencia has been presented.
