Airport Security Checkpoint Analysis

Abstract

[EN] The issue of security check-in has become a critical one since the first terrorist attacks. It is certainly a necessary process for maintaining the safety of air operations. However, it cannot be neglected the passenger´s discomfort when going through this security checkpoint, thus for short distance travelling, many passengers might prefer other transport means to avoid this procedure. The goal of this bachelor´s thesis will be a critical analysis of the current process as well as a proposal for an improvement in this process, for the not too distant future since the increment in air traffic is a fact, and it is estimated to increase a minimum of 5% annually. This project will aim to look for a solution that optimizes the current means.

[ES] Las comprobaciones de seguridad en el transporte aéreo de pasajeros se han convertido en un asunto crítico desde los primeros atentados terroristas. Sin duda, es un proceso necesario para mantener la seguridad de las operaciones aéreas. Sin embargo, la incomodidad del pasajero a la hora de pasar este control de seguridad es una realidad, por ello, para distancias cortas, muchos pasajeros prefieren utilizar otros medios de transporte. El objetivo de este trabajo de fin de grado será un análisis crítico del proceso actual. Una propuesta de mejora en este proceso para un futuro no muy lejano, ya que el incremento de pasajeros (y vuelos) es una realidad, pues se estima un incremento del 5% anual. También se buscará una solución que optimice los medios actuales.
