Concepto y proyecto en el Kunsthal de Rem Koolhaas

Abstract

El edificio del Kunsthal es una obra altamente significativa en la trayectoria profesional de Rem Koolhaas. Muchos de los principios que ha establecido como referencias arquitectónicas en la actualidad, fruto de sus experiencias y el estudio de Manhattan a través del libro Delirio de Nueva York, están presentes en este proyecto.

El Trabajo Final de Grado estudia las estrategias de proyecto de Rem Koolhaas contenidas en este edificio, identificando los patrones que se repiten en su diseño y extrayendo conclusiones útiles para los procesos proyectuales que se deben afrontar en la actualidad. Los temas a estudiar son, entre otros, la sección libre, las trayectorias o recorridos que atraviesan la totalidad del edificio, los pliegos en sección, la estructura y construcción como elementos vinculados a una imagen «work in progress», las referencias a arquitectos mito para Rem Koolhaas como Mies van der Rohe o la aproximación surrealista al proyecto, basada en el método paranoico-crítico de Dalí.

The Kunsthal is a highly significative building in Rem Koolhaas¿ professional career. Many of the principles that this architect has set as architectural references nowadays, which are a product of his experiences and the study of Manhattan through the book Delirious New York, can be recognised in this project.

The aim of this thesis is to study Rem Koolhaas¿ project strategies which are used in this building, in order to identify recurrent patterns in its design and extract useful conclusions for the design processes that need to be faced nowadays. The subjects to study are, among others, the free cross-section, the trajectories or paths which pierce the entire building, the folds in the section, the structure and the construction as elements linked to a ¿work-in-progress¿ appearance, the references to myth architects for Rem Koolhaas as Mies van der Rohe, or the surrealist approximation to the project, based on Dalí¿s paranoid-critical method.
