DIS URBAN TOPÍAS: promociones de vivienda social en Santo Domingo

Abstract

[ES] El presente trabajo pretende documentar las intervenciones urbanísticas de carácter social realizadas en Santo Domingo, capital de la Republica Dominicana durante los gobiernos de Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Molina y Joaquín Antonio Balaguer Ricart (1930-1996). Se plantea establecer una relación entre las características de las intervenciones, las decisiones políticas, las características climatológicas de la zona y la permanencia de los beneficiados en las viviendas sociales luego de ser reubicados. El estudio resultante de este análisis está compuesto por las siguientes partes: 1) Estudio del proceso de urbanización de Santo Domingo y la evolución de su trama urbana. 2) Estudio de las acciones habitacionales del estado durante el periodo 1940-1996. 3) Las políticas estatales de movilización de la población y la liberación de suelo. 4) Análisis del papel de las mujeres en el proceso de los desalojos y las redes de apoyo barriales. 5) Estudio detallado de las intervenciones habitacionales de carácter social. 6) Artículos periodísticos que documentan las noticias de la época. 7) Una revisión de las Fichas Documentales realizadas para este propósito y el análisis resultante. 8) Conclusiones. Además se incluyen anexos de artículos periodísticos, biografías de personalidades relevantes para la investigación.

[EN] This study will document the social-urban interventions that occurred in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic during the government of Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina and Joaquin Antonio Balaguer Ricart (1930-1996). The study will establish a relationship between the interventions, the political decisions, the climate that characterizes the area and the likelihood that the benefit-recipients stayed in their homes after being relocated. The study is composed of the following sections: 1) The process of the urbanization of Santo Domingo and its urban landscape. 2) A study of the housing-related actions undertaken by the state between 1940-1996. 3) A summary of Eminent Domain policies by the state and mobilization of the affected population. 4) An analysis of the role of women s neighborhood support networks and their role in the eviction process. 5) A detailed study of the housing interventions from a social perspective. 6) Newspaper articles from the time. 7) A review and analysis of several data tables relating to the topic. 8) Conclusion. Futhermore, this study will include newspaper clippings and biographies of figures relevant to the investigation.
