[EN] This work is based on a scientific article where the efficiency of an avatar as a tutor or complement to a basic course in learning a second language was tested compared to the use of an online course without an avatar, and the options of avatars that they can perform this function, as well as their characteristics and previous experiences in this field. To carry out the article, the avatar was programmed with the basic words and expressions of Spanish, to teach, translate and correct, by introducing exercises in grammar, vocabulary and phonetics. These exercises were included together with some explanations on basic Spanish concepts (alphabet, grammar, etc.) in a course. The methodology used to test the efficiency of the avatar was through two questionnaires, with the content of the course, with a theoretical part and a practical part (one with videos of the avatar as a complement and the other without it). These questionnaires were disseminated to the international community of Utrecht and also some of the students on the campus of the HU of Utrecht. At the end of each questionnaire, the opinions of each person who took the course were collected as well as the results obtained for later analysis. The main objective of the research of the article was to detect the optimal design mechanisms and methods, and assess whether the avatar did that users improve their level of Spanish in a way more efficient than a course without avatar. The results obtained were optimal and showed that the avatar was an efficient complement, since better results were obtained in the questionnaire that had the avatar as a complement than in the one without an avatar. This article was conducted with two more: Jesús Robles Martínez and Sergio Pau Alandi. This article is attached to this work.
This work focuses more on the technical part of the development of this article focusing on how the creation of avatar animations and video editing developed.
