dc.description.abstract This project, as its name suggests, is strongly associated with the open source movement and free software, and arises from the student's need to make a final year project. Among the wide range of deals offered by the various project managers, the project entitled "Open Source Java Development" seems a good option to develop one of the first experiences for the workforce. At first glance the project suggests the development or modification of software in a modern language like Java. It is a good experience working in a project that follows a philosophy as widespread as Open source, whose definition is: Open source is the term that is known to the software freely distributed and developed. Open source has a view more oriented towards the practical benefits of sharing the code to moral questions and / or philosophical beliefs, most notably in the so-called free software. On the other hand one of the basic concepts for the development of this project is Petri Nets. A Petri net is a mathematical representation of a discrete distributed system. Is a generalization of automata theory to express concurrent events. This concept is used and applied to industrial machine control representing the behaviour of the machine in question, by elements of Petri Net as the states and transitions. It is also necessary understanding of the concept of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller). A PLC can be defined as a system based on a microprocessor. Its main parts are the Central Processing Unit (CPU), Memory and Input / Output System (I/O). The CPU is responsible for all internal and external control of the PLC and the interpretation of the program's instructions. Based on the instructions stored in memory and reads data inputs, generates output signals. The memory is divided into two read-only memory or ROM and read / write es_ES
