[EN] Seagrasses are widely known for their multiple ecosystem services, but existing information on their abundance and distribution in the southern sector of the Gulf of Valencia is scarce and out of date. The storms that affect this area, especially the Gloria storm, have left traces of their impact on the Cymodocea nodosa meadows on the beaches of this coast, so an evaluation of the situation of the meadows of this species is necessary.
In this work we compare the density and distribution of Cymodocea nodosa meadows in the southern sector of the Gulf of Valencia with existing cartographic data from 2007. As a result, we obtained that many of the meadows mapped in 2007 have disappeared and that the meadows that currently exist they have a low density of beams/m2. In addition, the 2007 cartography does not agree with the current distribution of this seagrass, so it is necessary to update it.
