Lo aparente eclipsa a lo real

Abstract

[EN] Departing from the definition of the terms (real/virtual), "real" it is that one that has real and effective existence, while "virtual" there is used frequently in opposition to effective or real, that is to say, that has apparent and not real existence. If one attends to the philosophy, we meet the platonic myth of the cavern where the shades are interpreted by his inhabitants as the "real thing", since it is the only thing that they can experience across his senses, for what it might interpret the "virtual thing" as representation, sham, fiction or model. It would be a question of analyzing the influence of the new technologies in the way of understanding the space. For it one will resort to different works, between which they find Georges Rousse's interventions, where it questions what we interpret by means of our senses. His final photographies seem to be false, as if it was a question of an overlapping done by computer, while the models that James Casebere constructs and uses to come out in photographs finally look like real spaces. According to Olafur Eliasson already it is not evolved of the model to the reality, but from the model to the model, at the time that we admit that, actually, both models are real.

[ES] Partiendo de la definición de los términos (real/virtual) con los que se organiza el II Congreso Internacional de Investigación en Artes Visuales (ANIAV), “real” es aquello que tiene existencia verdadera y efectiva, mientras “virtual” es lo que tiene virtud para producir un efecto, aunque no lo produce de presente, frecuentemente en oposición a efectivo o real, es decir, que tiene existencia aparente y no real. Si se atiende a la filosofía, nos encontramos con el mito platónico de la caverna donde las sombras son interpretadas por sus habitantes como lo “real”, ya que es lo único que pueden experimentar a través de sus sentidos, por lo que se podría interpretar lo “virtual” como representación, simulacro, ficción, modelo o maqueta. Se trataría de analizar la influencia de las nuevas tecnologías en el modo de entender el espacio. Para ello se recurrirá a diferentes obras, entre las que se encuentran las intervenciones de George Rousse, donde lo aparente eclipsa a lo real, con sus anamorfosis cuestiona lo que vemos, es decir, lo que interpretamos por medio de nuestros sentidos. Sus fotografías finales parecen falsas, como si se tratase de una superposición hecha por ordenador, mientras las maquetas que construye y utiliza James Casebere para fotografiar finalmente parecen espacios reales cuando se ven fotografiadas. Según Olafur Eliasson ya no se evolucina del modelo a la realidad, sino del modelo al modelo, al tiempo que reconocemos que, en realidad, ámbos modelos son reales.
