[EN] Until the early twentieth century the object is conceived in art (represented or integrated) in a space, a place (in the
words of Pierre Francastel), since we witness an ongoing paradigm shift due to changes at work in visual orders,
both in perception and artistic practice. These changes have accelerated technological revolutions in both
production and communication of images in spreading the art object, so have opened new approaches to
representation, adding an optical relationship rather than haptic by the subject in the art. Consequently, the hegemonic
physical presence of the object in art as leitmotif in the past, is now attending its dissolution, reduction or
enlargement it comes to calling the expanded field of art. All that the physical, tangible object has gone on to become
data to dwell on the hard drives of computers and network mazes; art objects previously existing, or not, of a virtual
reality, virtual art produced by and for computers that require devices for display: projection screens. Today all are
screens, but they do not stop being rectangles as windows that make us look back to return the device Alberti, that other
virtual space derived from the perspective of the Quattrocento, where his support, the picture itself, that object helps us
to understand what has happened since then, a throwback to understand the system that was called into question
and find that the screen has become a modern substitute for that window, literally and metaphorically.
