La rampa resuelve un lugar muy conflictivo de encuentro entre el Monte do Gozo y las infraestructuras de alta velocidad que rodean la ciudad. Sustituye a una larga y empinada escalera construida sobre el corte dado por una carretera y que rompía la continuidad del recorrido de los peregrinos, dificultando la accesibilidad e impidiendo la movilidad en silla de ruedas, bicicleta o a caballo. El desnivel es de 9 metros. La pieza, con una pendiente suave y un desarrollo continuo de unos 120 metros y 2,5 de ancho, permite parar y observar la ciudad que va apareciendo en la bajada. Sus curvas, giros y recodos se utilizan como espacios de transición en los que se intuye el paso hacia lo urbano, entre fragmentos de una naturaleza que va quedando atrás. The ramp overcomes a very problematic meeting point between Monte do Gozo and the high-speed road infrastructures surrounding the city. It replaces a long and steep staircase built over the cut made by a road, which broke the continuity of the pilgrims' route, hindering accessibility and mobility for wheelchair users, cyclists and horse riders. The difference in height is 9 metres. The structure, with a gentle slope and a continuous length of about 120 metres and a width of 2.5 metres, makes it possible to stop and observe the city that appears as one descends.
