The hype around AI tools in education has led to a skeptical attitude among many educators towards this technology. Based on a comprehensive literature analysis, the opportunities and risks of ChatGPT in higher education are identified and analyzed. The research concludes with a recommendation for a sensible use of ChatGPT in higher education.
