Companies are obligated to have a wide vision of their own business and to assimilate that they belong to a supply chain or to a network of supply chains; it does not have sense that a company works in an isolated environment, without considering other companies that add, maybe before, maybe after or even at the same time, value to the product (suppliers, distributors, other companies, etc.). In this context, there is a need for new models of operations, new tools and new methodologies based on the collaboration of the different company. But the application of those models, tools and methodologies, trying to establish collaborative frames of relation, must be subjected to the understanding and quantification of the pros and cons of the collaboration.
