Characterization of textile materials with microcapsules. Commercial products based on microencapsulated are very extended on some industries such as food, pharmacy, etc. Microencapsulated products are considered as a new finishing product that can be applied on fabrics. When they are used on textile products, it is know as a non conventional finishing product. These makes possible to obtain some fabrics with different flavours and resistant to washing cycles. Microencapsulated products for textile fabrics are different from the ones applied on pharmacy. Textile ones do not need soluble membranes, because usually active compounds go outside the microcapsule when membrane is broken. Indeed, because of that, production systems to obtain microcapsules are different from the conventional ones. When a fabric with microcapsules is being used, some microcapsules are broken and their effect goes out. Moreover, when fabrics are rubbed or washed, more microcapsules are broken. The aim of that work is to evaluate the degradation that microcapsules suffer when used and washed. Indeed, different fabrics have been prepared with microcapsules, evaluating the influence of the system used, and bath exhaust versus padding. Padding offered a higher efficiency so that different concentrations were studied and after that, these fabrics with microcapsules have been washed and rubbed previously to be characterised. To begin with, materials have been studied and characterised, evaluating parameters such as particle size, active material, and thermal behaviour. Information from materials study defines the kind of study to do when applied on fabrics. Basically, fabrics have been analysed by two instrumental methods, Fourier Transformed Infra Red (FTIR), in order to characterise chemical groups on the fabric, and Scanning Electronic Microscopy (SEM), moreover alternative methods have been applied to obtain results such as deconvolution of spectra. As a result of the analysis and the study of the results, a systematic has been proposed to analyse that kind of fabrics. ?? ?? ?? ??
