Santa Paula de Roma , un lienzo anónimo e inédito del siglo XVIII. Estudio histórico-técnico y propuesta de intervención

Abstract

[ES] El presente Trabajo Final de Grado tiene como objetivo fundamental abordar el estudio técnico y estado de conservación de un óleo sobre lienzo de estilo barroco, situado cronológicamente en el siglo XVIII. Como figura principal se representa la imagen de Santa Paula de Roma, reconocida en el entorno de la orden hispánica de los Jerónimos como co-patrona de su fundación religiosa.

La obra, de cuyo autor no se tiene constancia, fue rescatada de una iglesia de los alrededores de Valencia durante los acontecimientos iconoclastas de la Guerra Civil española y guardada por un particular hasta el día de hoy. Durante el transcurso de su vida material la pintura ha estado sometida a múltiples factores de alteración, que han propiciado la aparición de diferentes daños y alteraciones que ponen en peligro la integridad de la pintura.

A través de diferentes medios de estudio y análisis se abordará el alcance y magnitud de sus patologías, examen que servirá como base para plantear una propuesta de intervención coherente y respetuosa. Este proyecto atenderá a las necesidades estructurales y estéticas de la obra, considerando procesos de conservación curativa, restauración y prevención que garanticen su perdurabilidad en el tiempo.

[EN] The points of focus of the following Final Degree Project are the technical study and the condition status of a baroque oil painting of the eighteenth century. The main theme of the painting is the image of Saint Paula of Rome, renowned by the environment of the hispanic Saint Jerome s order as the co-patron of their religious order.

The work, whose author is unknown, was saved from a church located in the outskirts of Valencia during the Civil War and kept safe by an individual. Throughout the course of its material life the painting has been affected by numerous deterioration factors which have contributed to the appearance of multiple damaged spots that endanger the integrity of the painting.

Through different methods of study and analysis we'll examine the extent and severity of its decay, this examination will be used as groundwork to plan a coherent and respectful conservation proposal. This project will cater to the structural and aesthetic necessities of the painting, considering remedial conservation techniques, restoration and prevention that will guarantee a long-lasting quality.
