[EN] In this TFG, the possibilities of self-consumption of public institutions in the city of Valencia are studied
through the use of photovoltaic pergolas located in public spaces, with the aim of complementing the
photovoltaic installations on the roofs of buildings that allow to supply higher electricity consumption
thus contribute to the sustainable development of the city.
To do this, in the first place, the buildings and public fountains in the city that consumed the most
electricity during 2018 were located with the help of a file provided by the city council with the records
of electricity consumption in Valencia. Subsequently, 280 obstacle-free surfaces were selected and
classified on which to implement photovoltaic pergolas in public spaces for the self-consumption of
the buildings and fountains previously selected. In compliance with RD 244/ 2019, these spaces were
located within a radius of 500 meters from the measurement points. Next, the maximum photovoltaic
production of the proposed locations was calculated and the supply potential available for the selected
institutions was determined, to finally carry out a feasibility analysis of one of the proposed
photovoltaic installations in public spaces using the HOMER software, obtaining economically
favorable results and thus proposing a new way of self-consumption capable of generating economic
savings, providing shady spaces to the city and promoting self-consumption installations to citizens.
With the results obtained in this work, it is estimated that 18,438 MWh per year could be generated
with photovoltaic pergolas located in public spaces, of which, combined with the photovoltaic
potential available on the roofs of public buildings, 10,639 MWh would be directly usable to supply the
selected buildings. This estimated potential corresponds to 40% of the total electricity consumption of
buildings and fountains selected and would mean a reduction in emissions of 3,520 tons of CO2 into
the atmosphere, thus helping to meet the environmental objectives set by the European Union.
