Constelación urbana Velluters-Carme. Espacio Cultural PRINCESA

Abstract

[ES] El presente proyecto arquitectónico se engloba dentro de un marco docente que tiene como objetivo abordar el análisis y la regeneración de distintos vacíos urbanos en los barrios históricos de Velluters y El Carme en Valencia. El lugar elegido para la intervención se centra en el interior de la manzana donde antiguamente se hallaban dos referentes culturales, como eran el Teatro Princesa y el Valencia Cinema, y el ámbito se extiende más allá de dicha manzana para enlazar con otro solar existente junto a la calle de la Carda, con la intención de conectar y dar continuidad a ambos lugares. La propuesta se basa en la implantación de diversos espacios socioculturales que sirvan de encuentro y estén relacionados entre sí, con una doble intención. Por un lado, la de recuperar la memoria del lugar, conservando y poniendo en valor pequeños jardines históricos y restos de un antiguo convento; y, por otro, la de revitalizar una zona que se ha ido degradando con el paso del tiempo, atendiendo a la escala urbana y potenciando la continuidad espacial. El programa presenta espacios de uso abierto y flexible que incluyen salas para actividades escénicas y de exposición con un planteamiento contemporáneo, adaptándose a las necesidades del tejido social del barrio de Velluters.

[EN] This architectural project is included within an educational framework that aims to discuss the analysis and regeneration of several urban voids in the historical neighbourhoods of Velluters and El Carme in Valencia. The site chosen for this intervention focuses on the inner area of a block where two cultural reference points were located: the Teatro Princesa and the Valencia Cinema. The scope of action extends beyond that block, linking it to another existing plot next to Carda Street. The aim is to connect and give continuity to both places. The proposal is based on the implementation of several interconnecting sociocultural spaces that also serve as a meeting place with a dual purpose. On the one hand, to recover the memory of the site, conserving and enhancing small historical gardens plus the remains of a convent. On the other hand, to recover an area that has gradually deteriorated over time, paying attention to the urban scale and emphasizing the spatial continuity. The programme presents open and flexible spaces that include performance and exhibition venues with a contemporary approach, adapting to the needs of the social fabric in the Velluters neighbourhood.
