Abstract

[EN] Memories of a forgotten war is an artistic project developed in a theoretical- practical way and presented in the form of a memory box, conceived within the artist ́s book, and containing 20 intaglio engravings, corresponding to 17 experiences, and two texts (dedication and colophon). The whole process is done manually by the artist. The work is the result of experimentation and reflection on testimonies close to the author.

Memories of a forgotten war, is a project that aims to visually rescue the silenced and hidden testimonies of a specific war, the war in Spanish Morocco or Sidi Ifni, which went unnoticed in mainland Spain and its dissemination was limited only at the intrafamily level. It focuses on showing the daily life of war, in order to humanize those who were forced to participate in it.

This box is presented in this format and with that aesthetic to show how these stories have been preserved in the houses, empathize with the participants and feel that they are part of their own history as well, by understanding the story that is shown and in the order chronological it presents.

It vindicates the need to recover the testimonies of the events of our history, told from the intimate tone that a private and family confession implies. In this way, it is sought to awaken in the viewer the empathy with the author and the history of her family when observing said memory box that contains the engravings of memory as visual story.

[ES] Memorias de una guerra olvidada es un proyecto artístico desarrollado de una forma teórico-práctica y presentado en forma de caja de recuerdos, concebida dentro del libro de artista, que contiene 20 grabados calcográficos, correspondientes a 17 vivencias, y dos textos (dedicatoria y colofón). Memorias de una guerra olvidada, es un proyecto que pretende rescatar de una forma visual los testimonios silenciados y escondidos de una guerra en concreto, la guerra del Marruecos español, o Sidi Ifni, que pasó desapercibida en la España peninsular y su difusión quedó limitada tan solo en el plano intrafamiliar. Se centra en mostrar la cotidianidad de la guerra, con el fin de humanizar a aquellos que se vieron obligados a participar en ella. Esta caja, se presenta en dicho formato y con esa estética para mostrar cómo se han conservado estos relatos en las casas, empatizar con los participantes y sentir que son parte de su propia historia también, al comprender el relato que se muestra y en el orden cronológico que presenta. Reivindica la necesidad de recuperar los testimonios de los acontecimientos de nuestra historia, contados desde el tono intimista que implica una confesión privada y familiar. De este modo se persigue despertar en el espectador la empatía con la autora y la historia de su familia al observar dicha caja de recuerdos que contiene los grabados de la memoria a modo de relato visual.
