Persona: Belleza humana. La fotografía como herramienta para visibilizar la diversidad.

Abstract

[EN] PERSON: Human beauty. Photography as a tool to make diversity visible is the name given to this TFM. It arises from the desire and concern to make the viewer meditate about the diversity that exists in the human being as well as what is considered normal, that is, what we are used to or see more regularly, even questioning what we understand by beauty and consequently, also what we understand by non-beauty or ugliness. The artistic work presented in this project would belong to the field of digital photography. It also talks about this art, the different types of photography that most influence us in our day-to-day life and its current context related to the main theme of the project, which is the definition of beauty. History and the different definitions and concepts that we attribute to this word throughout the earth's geography and its cultures will be studied. The practical part of this project is made up of two series of photographs delving into the terms and themes in question: “beauty and idealization” and “non-beauty”. In order to achieve the aforementioned objectives, several models that do not fit in the normative physical frame such people with albinism, down syndrome, vitiligo, etc. have been used. In the series of photographs these physical characteristics are highlighted to achieve greater visibility of them, since for now it is scarce. We pretend to demonstrate also that all kind bodies, whatever it may be, can have its good and interesting part.

[ES] PERSONA: Belleza humana. La fotografía como herramienta para visibilizar la diversidad es el nombre que recibe este trabajo. Parte del deseo y la inquietud por hacer reflexionar al espectador sobre la diversidad que existe en el ser humano así como también de lo que es considerado normal, es decir, a lo que estamos acostumbrados o vemos más regularmente, incluso cuestionarnos lo que entendemos por belleza y en consecuencia, también lo que entendemos por la no belleza o la fealdad. La obra artística que se presenta en este trabajo entraría en su totalidad en el campo de la fotografía digital. También se habla de este arte, los diferentes tipos de fotografía que más nos influyen en nuestro día a día y de su contexto en la actualidad relacionado con el tema principal del trabajo, así como la definición de belleza. Se estudiará la historia y las diferentes definiciones y conceptos que se le atribuyen a esta palabra a lo largo de la geografía terrestre y de sus culturas. La parte práctica de este proyecto se compone de dos series fotográficas que ahondan en los términos y temas en cuestión: “belleza e idealización” y “la no belleza”. Para conseguir los objetivos citados anteriormente se ha contado con varios modelos que no entran en el marco de un físico normativo como son las personas con albinismo, personas con síndrome de down, vitíligo, etc. En las series de fotografías se realzan dichas particularidades físicas para conseguir una mayor visibilidad de ellas, ya que por ahora es escasa. Se pretende demostrar también que todo cuerpo, sea como sea, puede llegar a tener su parte buena e interesante.
