[EN] Westerbork area is located in the northeast, in the province of Drenthe. The Herinneringcentrum Westerbork, together with Staatsbosbeheer and Astron want to improve the information and orientation in the area placed around Westerbork Camp (between Hooghalen and Amen). More than 250.000 people visited the facilities in 2011 and they want to increase the public in order to promote the nature, science and history.
Bospad and Melkwegpad are paths that start in the inforpoint, which is placed in the parking lot, and connect the museum with the Institute for Radio Astronomy “Astron” and the transit camp Westerbork. The visitor can cross through the nature path (Bospad) or the solar system path (Melkwegpad) walking or by bike, also it´s possible to take the bus close to the museum to go through a path located between both. According to the research done using surveys (Appendix 1: Paper survey ; Appendix 2: Results of the surveys) and face to face spontaneous discussions, some visitors don´t see and don´t feel attracted to the info point therefore they don´t know all the details and possibilities around them. The main improvements can solve the problems of orientation and information.
The visitor has to be delimitated to approach well the problem. Making a black box in order to understand how the abstract product should work is also useful to clarify and have the weak points in mind: taking advantage in the space car, updating and making more attractive the infopoint and clarifying the signals.
When all the above is described, it is time to start solving problems using several techniques to get concepts and evaluate them in order to obtain the best solutions: a creativity session to get as much ideas as possible (Appendix 5: Idea generation), morphology to get ideas from other point of view (Appendix 6: Morphological analyses) and decision matrix to evaluate all the concepts (Appendix 7: Decision Matrix).
After getting the best concepts, a research has been done to have a proper product description more in detail. This research, together with the program of requirements (Appendix 9: Program of requirements) has as a result rules and guidelines for use in the next phase: development phase
