Una Inmaculada Concepción sobre lienzo de periodo barroco perteneciente a la colección del antiguo Hospital de Valencia Estudio histórico-técnico, iconográfico y propuesta de intervención

Abstract

[ES] En este Trabajo Final de Grado se lleva a término un estudio sobre una pintura sobre lienzo con la representación de la Inmaculada Concepción. Podríamos clasificar la obra estéticamente dentro de la escuela valenciana de periodo barroco y situarla en su cronología entre finales del s. XVII y principios del XVIII. En la obra aparece la imagen de la Virgen según el esquema dogmático de su concepción, rodeada de los atributos marianos de la letanía lauretana. El cuadro que se conserva actualmente en la sacristía de la Iglesia del Hospital General Universitario de Valencia procede del edificio de la antigua institución benéfica. La pintura se encuentra en un estado de conservación deficiente, patente a través de innumerables daños que han ocasionado descohesión y pérdidas en los diferentes estratos pictóricos, así como la ausencia del bastidor que ha derivado en una deformación general del soporte. La obra ha sido intervenida con anterioridad pudiéndose observar distintos tratamientos en el reverso, a través de parches y zonas concretas de repintes intrusistas sobre el estrato pictórico. Tras la realización del estudio inicial de la pintura mediante varias técnicas de registro fotográfico, análisis de los materiales constitutivos del soporte textil y el diagnóstico del estado de conservación, se plantea una propuesta de intervención que trate de subsanar los daños y patologías presentes en la obra, así como unas pautas generales para abordar una futura conservación preventiva.

[EN] The Final Degree Assignment carries out a study about a canvas¿ painting which represents an Immaculate Conception. This artwork could be aesthetically classified within the valencian school of the baroque period, and it could be chronologically established between the end of the XVII century and the beginnings of the XVIII century. In the painting it appears the Virgin according to the dogmatic framework of her conception, surrounded of the Marian attributes of the Lauretan Litany. The canvas which currently is conservated in the sacristy of the General University Hospital¿s Church of Valencia come from the ancient charity institution¿s building. The state of conservation of the painting is deficient, clearly it can be observed through the countless damages which have caused the lack of cohesion and the loss of the different pictorial stratums, as well as the absence of the stretcher which has derived into a general deformation of the bracket. The artwork has been previously intervened, it is noticeable while the different treatments in the reverse, through the patches and the unqualified overpaintings above the pictorial stratum are appreciated. After the execution of the initial studies of the painting by different techniques of photograph registers, analysis of the constitutive materials of the textile bracket and the diagnosis of the conservation state, it is contemplated an intervention proposal which deals with the damage reparation and pathologies present on the painting, in addition to some general guidelines which tackle a future preventive conservation.
