ESTUDIO Y CÁLCULO DE LA HUELLA DE CARBONO EN LA ESCUELA TÉCNICA SUPERIOR DE INGENIERÍA INDUSTRIAL (ETSII) DE LA UNIVERSITAT POLITÉCNICA DE VALÈNCIA

Abstract

[ES] El cambio climático es un hecho que cada día avanza más. Esto es debido a las acciones humanas de generación de productos y consumo. Este cambio climático, en parte es debido a las emisiones de CO2 expulsadas a la atmósfera. Por ello, es de vital importancia hacer un recuento de cuánto se contamina para así poder estudiar y adoptar las medidas que sean oportunas para reducir estas las emisiones y realizar así un estudio ambiental. La UPV calcula y reduce la huella de carbono (alcance 1 y 2) según el Real Decreto 163/2014 de 14 de marzo, por lo que se crea el registro de la huella de carbono, compensación y proyectos de absorción de dióxido de carbono. Este cálculo voluntario es creado para promover y facilitar el cálculo y reducción de la huella por parte de las instituciones españolas, así como promover los proyectos de absorción y reducción de CO2 en España, siendo esta una medida contra la lucha del cambio climático. Es por ello por lo que, el objetivo de este trabajo de fin de grado se trata trabajar con la metodología de análisis de la huella de carbono, ya que se trata de un indicador fundamental que hace que se conozca y se sea consciente de las emisiones de CO2, y realizar el cálculo de la huella de carbono en la escuela técnica superior de ingenieros industriales. Este trabajo constará de varios bloques; uno de ellos consistirá en una introducción a distintos conceptos teóricos necesarios para contextualizar el trabajo (el cambio climático, desarrollo sostenible y la huella de carbono); otro bloque será dedicado a describir la metodología seguida en la búsqueda y recogida de información, análisis de datos y su cálculo, el cual será lineal al cálculo de la huella de carbono de la UMA. Además, aparte del alcance 1 y 2 nombrados en el informe anual de la UMA, se incluirá el alcance 3. Se estudiarán los distintos procesos que pueden incluirse en este alcance y se hará una aproximación al cálculo de éste con todos los datos disponibles auditables.

[EN] Climate change is a fact that advances more every day. This is due to human actions of genera- tion and consumption. This climate change is partly due to the CO2 emissions released to the atmosphere. For this reason, it is vitally important to make a count of how much is polluted in order to be able to analyse and adopt the appropriate measures to reduce these emissions and thus carry out an environmental study.

The UPV calculates and reduces the carbon footprint (scope 1 and 2) according to Royal De- cree 163/2014 of March 14, which is why the registry of the carbon footprint, compensation and carbon dioxide absorption projects is created. This voluntary calculation is created to pro- mote and facilitate the calculation and reduction of the footprint by Spanish institutions, adit- tionally, it also promote projects that improve the sink capacity of Spain, which results to be a measure against the fight of climate change.

Therefore, the objective of this final degree thesis is work with the carbon footprint analysis methodology, since it is a fundamental indicator that makes it known and aware of emissions. of CO2, and carry out the calculation of the carbon footprint in the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineers.

This work will consist of several blocks; one of them will consist of an introduction to different theoretical concepts necessary to contextualize the work (climate change, sustainable development and carbon footprint); another block will be dedicated to describing the methodology followed in the search and collection of information, data analysis and its calculation, which will be linear to the calculation of the carbon footprint of the UMA. In addition, apart from scope 1 and 2 mentioned in the UMA annual report, scope 3 will be included. The different processes that can be included in this scope will be studied and an approximation will be made to its calculation with all available auditable data.
