UNA PINTURA ACADÉMICA DE VíCTOR MOYA CALVO (1889-1972). ESTUDIO TÉCNICO Y PROCESO DE LIMPIEZA

Abstract

[ES] Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado (TFG) toma como caso de estudio una pintura perteneciente a la colección Fondo de Arte de la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). Se trata de un óleo sobre lienzo del pintor valenciano Víctor Moya Calvo (1889 ¿ 1972), que recoge un modelo desnudo del natural, posiblemente, como ejercicio de su etapa formativa. La obra se encuentra firmada en la franja superior de su anverso, a la vez que las anotaciones encontradas en uno de los listones del bastidor refieren una restauración previa de la obra en 1975, llevada a cabo por el profesor Rafael Catalá Rosaleñ. Se realiza un estudio técnico de la obra, que engloba los materiales constitutivos, tanto el soporte textil y bastidor, como los estratos pictóricos. Por otro lado, después de identificar sus patologías, se confirma que su estado de conservación es bueno, sobre todo en cuanto a su estabilidad estructural y matérica. No obstante, lo más destacable se encuentra en la suciedad superficial, el barniz oxidado y extendido de manera heterogénea y los repintes puntuales que se extienden por toda la superficie y que interfieren en la correcta legibilidad de la imagen pictórica. Finalmente, se ha procedido a realizar un proceso de limpieza de la pintura para eliminar los estratos espurios a los que se ha hecho referencia con la finalidad de recuperar el aspecto real de los colores que se esconden bajo estas capas enmascaradoras.

[EN] This final degree project (TFG) takes as a study case an academic painting belonging to the Fondo de Arte collection of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). It is an oil on canvas by the Valencian painter Víctor Moya Calvo (1889 ¿ 1972), that picks up a nude model, possibly, as an exercise of his formative stage. The painting is signed on the top front of its obverse. At the same time, the annotations found on one of the frame slats refer to a previous restoration in 1975, carried out by Rafael Catalá Rosaleñ. A technical study of the painting is carried out that includes the constituent materials, both the textile support and the frame, as well as the pictorial layers. Secondly, after identifying its pathologies, it is confirmed that its current conservation is good, specially in terms of its structure and material stability. However, th most remarkable thing is found in the superficial dirt, the heterogeneously spread and oxidized varnish and punctual repaints that extend over the entire surface and that interfere with the correct legibility of the pictorial image. Finally, a paint cleaning process has been carried out to eliminate the spurious layers to which reference has been made in order to recover the original appearance of the colors that are hidden under these layers.
