dc.description.abstract | [EN] A ‘take-make-dispose’ economic pattern has become obsolete for today’s economy. Materials exhaustion, increase in prices and risk exposure is leading organisations to a circular economic model. Cisco, in collaboration with a consortium of industry patterns including Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems and Granta Design, attempt to build an information system for products, processes and services with the aim of improving resource productivity known as Product Passport+. Such a system would address issues faced by these organisations such as legal compliance for hazardous materials, full cognisance of materials embodied in their products, also improve business insight and their capacity readiness for critical materials. In order to get to the proof of concept phase, the Product Passport+ concept needs to be defined. This article reviews two features of the system. Firstly, the idea of assigning a digital identity to those components of interest to be monitored. Objects, through an auto ID such as a QR code or an RFID tag will have an active, individual online interface. Secondly, this research focuses on the information requirements of the system. Representing the architecture or blueprint that fulfil these requirements and reviewing how the Product Passport+ is connected with databases and sensors. As a result from this research, it has been stated the need of a unique identifier, managed by a third party to avoid legacy issues, for all components that want to be tracked. In the particular case of the nozzle guide vane, this identifier should be embodied in a barcode (QR code or 2DMI) due to the high temperatures. Once this code is scanned, the system will be able to access the objects digital identity. The Product Passport+ blueprint has been designed as a series of databases linked together. Using the component’s identifier as a key, the system will be able to access all the needed information (service contracts, health of the component, fleet view, etc.) and through analytics, plan a more accurate maintenance schedules and maximise the component’s utilization. | es_ES |
