[EN] In the 'Bright Red' persimmon, more than 50% of the fruits are naturally released during
their development. The reason for this is unknown, and avoiding it would mean
increasing the production of a cv. Which represents 90% of the cultivation of this
species in the Valencian Community with an annual production of around 500 x 103 t
per year. Previous studies have shown that the fruiting capacity of this fruit is
parthenocarpic and lies in its sepals.
For this purpose, the sepals will be determined by eliminating the sepals in 3 welldefined
phenological states: floral bud, anthesis, and freshly harvested fruit, while
complete trees with gibberellic acid (10 mg / l) will be treated in these states. Part of the
fruit to which the sepals are removed will be individually treated with gibberellic acid (10
mg / l), and their corresponding synthesis or transport inhibitors.
Periodically determine the growth of the fruit and the number of those that are
detached from the tree and will analyze its production of ethylene, carbohydrate
content. The size of the fruit, the abscission and the harvest will be evaluated. Ethylene
production will be measured by gas chromatography, the carbohydrates will be
analyzed by HPLC.
The objective is to develop agronomic techniques capable of maintaining more fruit in
the tree in order to increase the profitability of our farms.
This work is part of the studies required by the Valencian company COARVAL to
improve the productivity of persimmon.
