Abstract

[EN] Achieving a certain level of architectural excellence is hindered in many new offi ce buildings by the predominant infl uence of roughly two elements. First of all, many offi ce buildings are conceived, built and fi tted out in accordance with economic and fi nancial guidelines. Thereby, the potential benefi ts of effi ciency, functionalism and no-nonsense are deployed in a very petty and limited manner. This preference and method of working often lead to nondescript buildings of which there are dozens and dozens. For the designer or user there is generally little honour and pleasure to be had in this category let alone for the architecture enthusiast.

[ES] El alcanzar un cierto nivel de excelencia arquitectónica en un edificio de ofi cinas es difícil. Ante todo, muchos edificios de oficinas son concebidos, construidos y encajados desde fuera conforme a directrices económicas y financieras. Así, las ventajas potenciales de eficacia, funcionalismo y sensatez son desplegadas de una manera muy limitada. Esta preferencia de funcionamiento, a menudo, conduce a los edificios a unas morfologías anodinas de las cuales hay docenas y docenas.
