Analisys of the effect on the exchange rate variations due to the “BREXIT”. Applied to the company Dremel in the United Kingdom

Abstract

[EN] Following the recent political instability in the relationship between The United Kingdom (The UK) and the European Union, the Pound depreciation and its effect into the Dremel Europe consolidated data a requirement has emerged of a deep analysis into its actual effect. The present report aims to analyze the actual political, macroeconomic and microeconomic environment of UK Dremel market and the effect the “Brexit” 1 referendum and the posterior exit of the United Kingdom of the European Union has had into the Dremel United Kingdom and Dremel Europe consolidated data. Dremel operates in the market segment of Multi Tools under the Robert Bosch Power Tool Corporation, being the world leader in that segment market. UK is one of the main markets for Dremel Europe, with sales in country around 10 million euros. For more than a decade Dremel is been leader on this market, so the efforts from Dremel Europe and Bosch are focused into maintain that share and, also open new markets in the region. The United Kingdom is considerate as a mature and profitable market for Dremel Europe, nevertheless, since the politic situation changed with the Brexit announcement, makes the forecasts not being favorable since, despite the growth in the sales in country are not being reflected into the final sales in Euros, due to the depreciation of the Pound.

[ES] En este TFG se analiza el efecto que ha tenido el referéndum sobre la salida del Reino Unido de la Unión Europea, celebrado el 23 de junio de 2016.

Este análisis se centra en las variaciones de los tipos de cambio Libras/Euros durante los primeros 12 meses tras el referendum y de su efecto directo sobre la empresa Dremel y sus cuentas consolidadas.

Para realizar el trabajo se han utilizado datos de fuentes primarias sobre los datos de ventas, márgenes, costes y tipos de cambio tras la consolidacion de cuentas de la misma empresa y recortes de prensa obtenidos de los principales medios de comunicacion internacionales
