Healthcare system integration using HL7

[ES] La intención de este proyecto es demostrar cómo se crea una integración HL7 para mejorar los sistemas de atención médica. Al usar HL7 y Mirth Connect, las comunicaciones entre un sistema de información hospitalario y un módulo de banco de sangre son creadas. Para presentar estos nuevos conceptos y el funcionamiento interno de la integración, lo que primero se hará es describir la arquitectura de cómo estos dos sistemas se comunican, así como también ilustrarlo. A continuación, se explicara qué es HL7 y por qué se usa, así como también introducir Mirth Connect. Finalmente, lo que se presentará y demostrará es cómo crear la integración, comenzando con el análisis y luego con la implementación. Finalmente, se expondrán mis conclusiones personales y las mejoras del proyecto. El objetivo es ilustrar y ayudar a explicar cómo funcionan nuestros sistemas de atención médica, y así tener una mejor comprensión de los mismos. [EN] The intention of this project is to demonstrate how an HL7 integration is created to improve healthcare systems. By using HL7 and Mirth Connect, communications between a Hospital Information System and Blood Bank Module is supplied. To introduce these new concepts and the inner workings of the integration what will first be done is describe the architecture of how these two systems communicate as well as illustrate it. Next, explain what HL7 is and why it is used as well as introduce Mirth Connect. Finally, what will be presented and demonstrated is how to create the integration, beginning with the analysis and then with the actual implementation. Finally, my personal conclusions and project improvements will be laid out. The goal is to illustrate and help explain how our healthcare systems work thereby having a better understanding and comprehension of them. This project will show how a small part of a real life HIS (Hospital Information System) would operate on a day to day basis.
