Efecto del tipo de jaula y el uso de la plataforma sobre el bienestar de conejas reproductoras

Abstract

[EN] Production, hygiene, health and behavioural parameters have been measured in breeding does housed in two types of cages, one a single-level cage and the other one provided with an elevated platform. In general, productive parameters were not affected by the type of cage used, whereas hygiene, health and aggressiveness were adversely affected in those rabbits housed in cages with platforms. As regards to the use of the platform by the breeding does, it seems they used it to escape from the kits as soon as they start to leave the nest, and from that moment on, the use of the platform is higher by the rabbits than by the does.

[ES] En el presente trabajo se ha medido la producción, higiene, sanidad y comportamiento en conejas reproductoras alojadas en dos tipos de jaulas, uno de un solo nivel y otra con plataforma. En general, los parámetros productivos no se han visto afectados por el tipo de jaula utilizado, mientras que la higiene, sanidad y agresividad de las conejas se vieron empeoradas en las jaulas con plataforma elevada. Además, en cuanto al uso de dicha plataforma, la coneja parece que la utiliza para huir de los gazapos en el momento en que estos empiezan a salir del nido y a partir de ese momento, su uso es mayor por parte de los gazapos que por las conejas.
