La acequia mayor, la arteria de Vila-real

Abstract

[ES] En el siguiente trabajo, vamos a realizar un estudio histórico, urbanístico y paisajístico de la acequia mayor de Vila-real. Esta acequia tiene una gran importancia para la ciudad, puesto que ayuda a los agricultores todavía hoy en día a proporcionales el agua necesaria para sus cultivos. Además, también actúa como vía vertebradora y de de drenaje de agua cuando se producen fuertes lluvias, ayudando a evacuar esas acumulaciones de agua que éstas provocan. Debido a la importancia que tiene esta acequia para la población y a su valor histórico, también realizaremos su puesta en valor y la mejora de su integración urbana, creando nuevos espacios y mejorando los existentes.

[EN] In the following paper we are going to carry out a historical research of the major canal of Vila-real. This canal is of great importance for the city since it is still helping farmers nowadays, providing them the necessary water for their crops. Besides, it also acts as a water drainage channel when heavy rains occur, helping to evacuate those acummulations of water that such rains provoque. Due to the importance of this canal for the city and its historical value, an enhancement and improvement of its surrondings will also be carried out, creating new places and improving the existing ones if necessary. This will allow us to add value to the city as well as pleasant spaces where the citizens can enjoy their time. That way, we will attempt to create new functional areas which will allow for transforming many of these places, which are just simply passage areas today.
