La estructura de hormigón como definidora de la forma arquitectónica

Abstract

[EN] The structural or resistant capacity of concrete is possibly the most developed by the construction industry due to its technical component. However, its structural quality as a generator or definer of architectural form has other implications. Inevitably it is based on the technique of a constructed building, but it is necessary to delve into the genesis of the project -how concrete is shaped as the only architectural material capable of ordering a particular result-. This paper explores this analysis: it describes the architecture proposal implicit in the thesis, identifies the pinnacle moment from which this research originated and recognizes in contemporary architectures different discourses that can be derived from it. To achieve this, an argument is established in three stages called time -1, time 0 and time 1. The finality is to firmly identify the material concrete capable of defining the work of architecture through the structure.

[ES] La capacidad estructural o resistente del hormigón es posiblemente la más desarrollada por la construcción atendiendo a su componente técnica. Sin embargo, su cualidad estructural como generadora o definidora de la forma arquitectónica tiene otras connotaciones. Inevitablemente se apoya en la técnica propia de un edificio construido, pero hace necesario indagar en la génesis del proyecto, en cómo el hormigón se conforma como materia arquitectónica única capaz de ordenar ese resultado. Este escrito profundiza en dicho análisis: caracteriza la propuesta de arquitectura implícita en la tesis, identifica el momento estelar que origina esta investigación y reconoce en arquitecturas contemporáneas diferentes discursos que se pueden derivar de ello. Para lograrlo, se establece una argumentación en tres etapas denominadas tiempo -1, tiempo 0 y tiempo 1. La intención última es identificar de forma indisoluble al material hormigón con la capacidad de definir la obra de arquitectura a través de la estructura.
