Surface modification by injection moulding of polycaprolactone and polycaprolactone with tricalcium phosphate samples with sodium hydroxide

Abstract

It is well know that polycaprolactone polymer (PCL) is gaining in popularity in the field of tissue engineering, due to its nontoxic degradation bi-products, and its low cost of manufacture through injection moulding. Nevertheless, it is also a hydrophobic material, with most of the polymers being unfavourable when in contact with cells. This PCL research shows promise for future applications in tissue engineering.
