El retablo de San Antonio Abad de la Iglesia de la Inmaculada de Cella, Teruel. Estudio histórico-técnico y análisis del estado de conservación

El presente trabajo recoge una serie de estudios histórico-técnicos y estilísticos que, junto con el análisis del estado de conservación, permiten investigar y profundizar en el conocimiento del Retablo de San Antonio Abad.

La obra se encuentra ubicada en la Iglesia de la Inmaculada de Cella, Teruel, y podemos datarla hacia finales del siglo XVI o principios del XVII. Constituye un conjunto arquitectónico, pictórico y escultórico de distintos estilos, donde se han incorporado partes de dos retablos diferentes, lo que influye de forma directa en su significado e iconografía, produciendo modificaciones estructurales que afectan a su conservación.

Dichos cambios, junto a unas condiciones ambientales y de exposición poco controladas, han ocasionado el desarrollo de graves patologías en el conjunto, poniendo en riesgo tanto la integridad de la obra como su preservación a lo largo del tiempo, viéndose afectado su esplendor y significado.

The present work includes a series of historical-technical and stylistic studies that, together with the analysis of the state of conservation, allow to investigate and deepen the knowledge of the Altarpiece of Saint Anthony Abbot.

The work is in the Church of the Immaculate of Cella, Teruel, and we can date it towards the end of the XVI century or principles of the XVII. It constitutes an architectural, pictorial and sculptural set of different styles, where parts of two different altarpieces have been incorporated, which directly influence its meaning and iconography, producing structural modifications that affect its conservation.

These changes, coupled with poorly controlled environmental and exposure conditions, have led to the development of serious pathologies in the whole, putting at risk both the integrity of the work and its preservation over time, affecting its splendor and significance.
