Assessment of the financial position and performance of a choosen company operating in the information technology Industry in Russia

Abstract

[ES] El objetivo de ese trabajo es evaluar la posición financiera y el desempeño de la corporación rusa de tecnología de la información "Yandex". La parte teórica del trabajo se centra en el sistema contable ruso y la presentación de los estados financieros de las empresas que están obligadas a presentar sus estados financieros de acuerdo con las normas contables internacionales IAS/IFRS o US GAAP. La revisión literaria se centra en las características de los métodos seleccionados y el análisis financiero, así como las características de la industria y el desarrollo de los servicios y tecnologías de Internet en Rusia. La parte práctica del trabajo trata de la caracterización de la empresa "Yandex" y analiza la posición financiera (representada por el balance general) y el desempeño financiero (representado por el estado de resultados) de la empresa en base a los estados financieros publicados y anuales, los informes de la empresa utilizando los métodos de análisis vertical y horizontal y los ratios seleccionados de análisis financiero para los ejercicios 2017-2021. Los resultados obtenidos muestran los factores más significativos que influyen en la rentabilidad y los posibles problemas financieros para la empresa y la industria.

[EN] The aim of this bachelor thesis is to assess the financial position and performance of the Russian information technology corporation "Yandex". The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the Russian accounting system and the presentation of the financial statements of companies that are required to submit their financial statements in line with the International accounting standards IAS/IFRS or US GAAP. The literary review also deals with the characteristics of the selected methods and ratios of financial analysis and with the industry specifics and development of internet services and technologies in Russia. The practical part of the thesis deals with the characterization of the company "Yandex" and analyses the financial position (represented by the balance sheet) and the financial performance (represented by the Income statement) of the company based on the published financial statements and annual reports of the company using the methods of vertical and horizontal analysis and selected ratios of financial analysis for the financial years 2017-2021. The results of the thesis show the most significant factors influencing the profit and the potential financial problems for the company and the industry.
