El baile del hormigón. El Freeway Park de Seattle

Abstract

[ES] El Freeway Park es una obra paradigmática, publicada y reconocida, que expresa la materialización del movimiento en la obra de los arquitectos paisajistas Lawrence Halprin y Angela Danadijeva. En el parque todo es dinamismo y se organiza como una coreografía de todos sus componentes: la infraestructura verde se entrelaza con la autovía que cubre, existen múltiples desplazamientos de las personas, hay saltos de agua, la exuberante vegetación parece danzar en grandes jardineras… todo movimiento. La presente comunicación expone que todo ese movimiento, ese baile de componentes, se posibilita sobre la base de la materialización de un único material con distintos acabados: el hormigón visto. Será el hormigón armado el que tomará la forma de estructura, de soporte, de pavimento, de escaleras, de rampas, de fuentes y estanques, de mobiliario urbano, de muretes de contención, maceteros y jardineras, convirtiéndose en el artífice del movimiento en el Freeway Park.

[EN]The Freeway Park in Seattle in the USA, made in 1976, is a paradigmatic work, published and recognized, that expresses the materialization of movement in the work of landscape architects Lawrence Halprin and Angela Danadijeva. In the park, everything is dynamic and is organized as a choreography of its components: the green infrastructure is intertwined with the highway that it covers, there are multiple movements of people, there are waterfalls, the exuberant vegetation seems to dance in large planters... all movement. This communication explains that this movement, this dance of components, is made possible based on the materialization of a single material with different f inishes: exposed concrete.
