La conjunció del cinema i la música Disco: Saturday Night Fever

Abstract

[ES] En este Treball de Final de Grau s¿estudia la història de la música disco i les seues inclusions en el cinema per a poder identificar com s¿ha desenvolupat esta simbiosi i què fets ha desencadenat. Tot seguit, s¿investiga entorn de la pel·lícula que va fer sorgir el punt més alt del gènere musical creant també tota una cultura des dels Estats Units: Saturday Night Fever. Per comprendre l¿impacte del film en l¿Era Disco es mostra el procés de gestació del projecte per extraure aquells elements que la portaren a ser tot un revulsiu comercial com, per exemple, l¿actor John Travolta.

A més d¿això, es desglossa la pel·lícula per a analitzar i extraure les problemàtiques de la societat de l¿època reflectides dins del film mitjançant els personatges i el seu entorn. Per últim, es mostra el gran impacte del grup musical Bee Gees en l¿èxit del projecte i s¿analitza el paper de la seua música en la pel·lícula havent compost cinc temes per a la banda sonora original.

[EN] This present Final Project studies the history of disco music and its inclusion in cinema in order to identify how this symbiosis has developed and what events it has triggered. Then, research is carried out on the film that brought about the highest point of the musical genre, also creating a whole culture from the United States: Saturday Night Fever. To understand the impact of the film in the Disco Era, the process of gestation of the project is shown to extract those elements that led it to be a commercial revulsive as, for example, the actor John Travolta.

In addition to this, the film is broken down to analyze and extract the problems of the society of the time reflected in the film through the characters and their environment. Finally, the great impact of the musical group Bee Gees in the success of the project is shown and the role of their music in the film is analyzed, having composed five songs for the original soundtrack.
