Un lugar de conexión

Abstract

[ES] La presencia de la naturaleza, el particular encanto del municipio y del área de intervención y las carencias funcionales y urbanísticas del lugar, llevan a escoger la zona de la estación de Navajas como emplazamiento para desarrollar el presente proyecto.

Tras realizar un minucioso análisis urbanístico, se observa que el principal problema del área es la desconexión existente alrededor del paso subterráneo que conecta las dos partes de un pueblo separado por la línea del ferrocarril. Se trata de una zona de difícil acceso, pues la vía la comparten peatones y vehículos sin ningún tipo de distinción. Además, cabe destacar que este es un punto clave en las circulaciones del municipio, pues para acceder a los equipamientos públicos es necesario recorrer esta zona.

El edificio de estación actual, construido con la tipología ferroviaria característica de la zona, se conserva y se convierte en el centro de la intervención. Se le da un nuevo uso y se habilita como el centro de información y turismo de la localidad, pero se pretende que continúe siendo un espacio ferroviario reconocible. Por este motivo, se proyecta una plaza en contacto directo con este edificio que se convertirá en la zona de conexión con el pabellón que alberga la nueva estación. De este modo, se consigue que los dos edificios funcionen como un conjunto.

Con vistas a solucionar la problemática existente y además potenciar las múltiples cualidades turísticas del municipio, se decide intervenir en toda el área de la estación. Situando en los dos extremos del frente un edificio y un parque urbano complementarios. En la zona de desconexión comentada anteriormente, se proyecta un edificio cultural que se abre a la calle hasta el punto de convertirse en parte del recorrido. Se crea así una conexión entre la vía pública, una plaza pública y el edificio mismo.

Por otra parte, en el extremo opuesto, se crea un nuevo acceso que permite vincular de forma más activa las dos partes del municipio. En contacto directo con este paso enterrado se proyecta un parque urbano que gradualmente salva la cota necesaria para llegar a la estación, convirtiéndose así el área de intervención en un recorrido que facilite las circulaciones rodadas y peatonales.

[EN] The presence of nature, the particular charm of the municipality and the intervention area and the functional and urban deficiencies of the place, lead us to choose the area of Navajas station as a site to develop the present project.

After carrying out a meticulous urban analysis, it is observed that the main problem of the area is the disconnection existing around the underground passage that connects the two parts of a town separated by the railway line. It is an area of difficult access, as the road is shared by pedestrians and vehicles without any distinction. In addition, it should be noted that this is an important place of the municipality circulations.

The current station building, built with the typical railway typology of the area, is conserved and becomes the centre of the intervention. It is given a new use and is enabled as the tourism information centre of the town, it is intended to continue being a recognizable railway space. This is why a square is projected in direct contact with this building, thus, this square will become the area's connection with the Pavilion that houses the new station. In this way, you get the two buildings to function as a set. In order to solve the existing problem and also enhance the multiple tourist qualities of the municipality, it is decided to intervene in the entire area of the station. Placing a complementary building and urban park at the two ends of the front. In the disconnection zone mentioned above, a cultural building is projected that opens onto the street to the point of becoming part of the route. This creates a connection between the public road, a public square and the building itself. On the other hand, at the opposite end, a new access is created that allows linking more actively the two parts of the municipality. In direct contact with this buried passage an urban park is projected that gradually saves the necessary height to reach the station, thus converting the intervention area into a path that facilitates the roundabouts and pedestrian traffic.
