Weakening architecture: reflections on contemporary architecture

[EN] In a world undergoing accelerated transformation, architecture seeks to redefine its role as a driverof change. This article traces a selective trajectory throughout the formation of the contemporary episteme tothen reformulate architectural practice through the philosophical notion of weakness. To this end, it describesthe transition from hermeneutic thought to contemporary realist currents, critically reflecting on specificpositions within both approaches. Drawing on an unpublished text by Gianni Vattimo, the weakening hypothesisis reformulated in operational terms and three vectors for a conscious architecture are proposed: process,commitment, and agency. Process reappears as an alternative to the hegemony of the architectural object,shifting the focus toward the project's life cycle. Commitment assumes an ethical and political responsibilityin response to the warnings of the present. Agency defines the propositional spirit inherent to the discipline,oriented toward generating a form of dialogical resistance in relation to economic and social dynamics.Weakening architecture is thus proposed as a modus operandi aware of the continuous intersubjective and non-linear transformation of reality: a design based approach attitude that promotes an informed and proactivearchitecture capable of operating effectively under conditions of uncertainty

[ES] En un mundo inmerso en una transformación acelerada, la arquitectura busca redefinir sulugar como agente de cambio. Este artículo traza un recorrido selectivo por la formación de la epistemecontemporánea para luego reformular la práctica desde la noción filosófica de debilidad. Con este objetivo,se describe el tránsito del pensamiento hermenéutico hacia las corrientes realistas contemporáneas,reflexionando críticamente sobre determinadas posiciones de ambos enfoques. A partir de un texto inédito deGianni Vattimo, se actualiza la hipótesis debilitadora en términos operativos y se proponen tres vectores parauna arquitectura consciente: proceso, compromiso y agencia. El proceso se replantea como alternativa a lahegemonía del objeto arquitectónico, desplazando el foco hacia el ciclo vital del proyecto. El compromiso asumela implicación hacia una responsabilidad ética y política frente a las advertencias del presente. La agencia defineel espíritu propositivo inherente a la disciplina, orientado a generar una resistencia dialogada con las dinámicaseconómicas y sociales. Debilitar la arquitectura se plantea como un modus operandi consciente de la continuatransformación intersubjetiva y no lineal de la realidad, una actitud proyectual que promueve una arquitecturainformada y proactiva, para operar con solvencia en condiciones de incertidumbre.
