La despedida. Un espacio

Abstract

[EN] The nine architectures featured in this issue are intended to exemplify the contemporary diversity of funerary typology. From East to West, from the tomb to the cemetery, the works of architects who have confronted the process of bidding farewell during their lifetime are shown. On the surface, some of the typologies seem to have the capacity to be extrapolated from one culture to another, but we must be aware - beyond the spatial parameters - that they do not represent the same death or the same ritual, even if, in essence, it is a farewell. These circumstances, which intertwine the emotional, the spiritual, ceremony (ritual) and symbolism, make funerary architecture an existential space.

[ES] Las nueve arquitecturas recogidas en este número pretenden ejemplificar la diversidad contemporánea de la tipología funeraria. Desde oriente a occidente, desde la tumba al cementerio, se muestran obras de arquitectos y arquitectas que se han enfrentado en vida al programa de la despedida. En apariencia, algunas de las tipologías parecen contar con la capacidad de ser extrapoladas de una cultura a otra, pero hemos de ser conscientes más allá de los parámetros espaciales que no representa la misma muerte ni el mismo ritual, aunque sí, de fondo, sea una despedida. Estas circunstancias que entrecruzan lo emocional, lo espiritual, la ceremonia (ritual) y el simbolismo, hacen que la arquitectura funeraria se convierta en un espacio existencial
