Estudio del bienestar económico y progreso social en la Comunidad Valenciana

Abstract

[ES] El Trabajo Final de Grado se centra en el estudio de satisfacción de la población con su situación económica en la Comunidad Valenciana. El concepto de bienestar económico es un tema actual y discutido por la sociedad, es por ello que mi motivación se basa en aprender y profundizar en el tema y en consecuencia obtener conclusiones. Durante la pasada pandemia debida al COVID-19, la Comunidad Valenciana se vio obligada a paralizar la movilidad de las personas y, por tanto, la actividad económica. Esta región está ahora afrontando la necesidad de hacer balance de los daños causados en las personas, la sociedad y la economía, para curar heridas y afrontar la recuperación. La reconstrucción de la economía valenciana debe aspirar a recuperar el nivel de bienestar previo al COVID- 19. Otro de los problemas se debe a los efectos de la guerra entre Ucrania y Rusia, con el aumento de la incertidumbre, se están paralizando proyectos, inversiones, reservas turísticas, etc. Se está produciendo un rápido y desmesurado aumento de los precios de las materias primas y de la energía, cuyas consecuencias las sufren la población y las empresas. Asimismo, la subida de los intereses trae como resultado que haya menos dinero en circulación, sumado a la inflación, la guerra y las consecuencias post COVID, es posible que venga una recesión. Probablemente deberíamos hacer una reflexión sobre la importancia para hacer frente a situaciones como ésta y como la de la pandemia. En conclusión, para llevar a cabo este estudio consideraremos indicadores ambientales y socioeconómicos. Analizaremos las dimensiones número 1 (condiciones materiales de vida), número 2 (trabajo) y número 8 (entorno y medioambiente) y para ello nos apoyaremos en la base de datos obtenida a través del Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), para así poder estudiar las condiciones a nivel económico y de bienestar y alcanzar los objetivos previamente descritos.

[EN] When I decided on evaluating the sustainability in the Valencian Community for my dissertation, I encountered various concerns, as it is a rather broad topic with several potential characteristics to analyse. In that, I´ve managed to focus on three main objectives, which are based on measuring the population's satisfaction with their economic situation, their work, and the environment they live in. The concept of economic well-being is a current point of discussion in our society, which sparked my motivation to learn and delve deeper into the matter with the aim of obtaining a final judgement. During the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the Valencian Community, like the rest of the world, found itself under the obligation to paralyse individuals, activity and hence, economic activity. This region is currently having to battle with the need to balance the damage caused to people, society and the economy in order to heal wounds and face recovery. The reconstruction of the Valencian Community´s economy should strive to restore the degree of well-being prior to COVID-19. Another relevant issue is that due to the effects of the war between Ukraine and Russia and thus the increasing uncertainty; projects, investments and touristic reservations are being paused. We are witnessing the inordinate soaring of prices of both raw materials and energy, whose consequences are being suffered by the population and firms. In addition, the rise of interest rates results in a decrease in the flow of capital in and out of the economy, as well as inflationary pressures, the war damages and the consequences of COVID-19, we may forecast a potential recession. In all likelihood, we should reflect on the importance of confronting situations similar to this and the previous pandemic. In conclusion, to further develop this study we will consider environmental and socioeconomic indicators. We will analyse dimensions number 1 (material living conditions), number 2 (work) and number 8 (environment and surroundings) and for this, we will support the Spanish Statistical Insitute (INE) database in order to be able to study the economic and welfare situation and achieve the aims previously stated.
